La bella escondida / the hidden beauty

Few people would recognize the tower in this drawing. In fact, it is not possible to see it from the street level, as it is enclosed within the block- you can only see it from the rooftops nearby ... and from the courtyard of the Museo Carmen Thyssen. This is the steeple of the  church of Santo Cristo  in Malaga, which once belonged to the convent of the Jesuits. It is a round floor plan temple that shows outside as a shingle-covered dome, and it is precisely this dome which hides our hidden beauty. The great Gérard Michel drew it when he came to Málaga in  this sketch.

The cities are full of surprises like this one.

Indeed, this drawing was made during our last
Malaga sketchers meeting . The management of the museum was kind enough to invite us to draw on their premises. A pleasant discovery was the cafeteria, next to a secluded and serene courtyard where the hot summer evenings can be transformed into an oasis of serenity, if you know how to overcome the temptation of the excellent library of the museum, located just on the other side of the courtyard.

The event, here in the news.
